Grand Funk Railroad packed FOUR "Great Songs" into THREE short years: 1973 through 1975. So far we've highlighted the first three: (Check out the links!)

Today, we're highlighting not only the last of the four, but a song that turned out to be their last Top 40 hit: "Bad Time." (1975)
The song is about a man who meets the girl of his dreams...but circumstances keep him from making those dreams come true. It was written by Grand Funk vocalist Mark Farner while going through a divorce. According to Mark, his about-to-be ex-wife was in the kitchen throwing pots and pans, while he was writing the song.
Obviously a Bad Time.
The song was released as a single from the album, "All the Girls in the World Beware," and shot up to #4 on Billboard's Hot 100, and #3 on Canada's Top 40!
Unfortunately, there were more bad times to come: contractual problems with Capitol Records, tensions within the group, breakups, regroupings, personnel changes, poor-selling albums and other issues...but even so, Grand Funk is still out there touring!
In fact, they toured extensively in 2019, celebrating "50 years of Funk."
You can bet they still play their "Great Songs of the '70s," and having a Good Time, with "Bad Time!"
