Bad Boys - Miami Sound Machine (1986) 2/21/24

Boys will be boys...and according to Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, it applies especially to "Bad Boys," which just happens to be today's Great Song of 1986!

"Bad Boys" was the first single released from "Primitive Love:" their second English language studio album, and their ninth overall.

The song was also featured in the film "Three Men and a Baby," starring Tom Selleck, Ted Danson, and Steve Guttenberg, but the film version of the song was completely remixed for radio airplay by remix expert and club DJ Shep Pettibone (one of the best in the business).

Shep turned the song into a dance masterpiece that was an across-the-board chart hit: #3 on Billboard's Dance Sales Chart, #8 on both the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary Charts, and #10 on theDance Club Play Chart.

It was also a hit in 13 other countries, reaching as high as #2 in The Netherlands and Zimbabwe.

Three videos were made for the song: The first featured Gloria stalking a handsome man on the beach, while being stalked herself by a nerdy type. The second, featured Gloria being accosted on the streets by what appeared to be the cast of "Cats! (For some reason, the "Cats" version was more popular!) The third version used concert footage.

A few words about the links below:

The first is Shep's remix. I could not find a matching video--nor any mention of one.

HOWEVER...a talented VJ named Ronson took the remix and made a mashup version of all 3 videos-check the SECOND link below! You might even want to crank up one--or both--of them...and dance !:-)
