Anticipation (1972) 11/25/20

One evening, while Carly Simon was anxiously awaiting for her date to pick her up for an evening on the town, she grabbed her guitar and wrote today's “Great Song of the '70s” in less than 15 Minutes!

Not only did the song, “Anticipation” become the title of her next album, the single became one of her biggest hits. In 1972, it went to #3 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, and #13 on the Hot 100. In Canada, it reached #9 on the Top 40.

Critics universally agreed that the song was one of Carly's finest, and she ended up with a Grammy nomination for “Best Female Pop Performance.”

Of course, in addition to being a “Great Song of the '70s,” it turned into a “Great Jingle” of the '70s & '80s...for Heinz Ketchup!

PS: The date who was “keepin' her waiting” was Cat Stevens!
