When I started my series of Great Songs of the '80s blog posts, I promised to jump back into the '70s from time to time, and today, that's exactly what I doing to do...
In 1973, a singer/songwriter named Bobby Gosh wrote and recorded today's Great Song. It didn't chart, and Bobby was never heard from again...so to speak.
We did, however, hear the SONG again in 1976, when Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show released their cover of "A Little Bit More."
In short, the song is about the "afterglow" of a romantic encounter.
The song went to #1 in Denmark, and was a solid hit in 8 other countries, including here in the US, where it reached #11 on Billboard's Hot 100, and #15 the Easy Listening Chart.
And then, in 1999, the song was heard yet again when the British boy band, 911 released THEIR over, which didn't chart in North America, but topped the charts in the UK.
"A Little Bit More:" maybe not a hit for Bobby Gosh, but gosh, it certainly was a "Great Song of the '70s" for Dr. Hook, and the '90s for 91.
