Without Love - Tom Jones (1970) 9/27/22

There is a reason why Thomas Jones Woodward--aka Tom Jones--had so many "Great Songs" back in the '60s and '70s: The man could sing!

Today's we're taking a look at one of his "Great Songs of 1970: "Without Love."

The song was originally released by Clyde McPhatter in 1957, and it did quite well: #6 on the Rhythm & Blues Chart and #19 on the Hot 100.

But when Tom unleashed his pipes on the song in December of '69, it wasn't too far into the '70s before he was sitting on top of Billboard's Easy Listening Chart, while sliding into the #5 slot on the Hot 100.

How good is Tom's version? Elvis Presley released a Gospel style version of "Without Love" (similar to Clyde's original version), and in my honest opinion, Tom out-sang The King by a mile! (Compare below and see if you agree!)
